What are Limiting beliefs

Limiting beliefs are exactly what they sound like. They are the perceptions we have accepted in our minds as truths.

Are they truths? Well sometimes, they are and sometimes they are not.

Whenever you experience anything in life, your brain goes to the vast collection of conclusions it has accepted over the years and provides you with a bunch of probabilities.

Therefore, in any circumstance you face, your brain will provide you with its best guess.

That best guess is just that, a guess. Moreover, we are acting on those guesses more often than we realise.

According to Dr. Fred Luskin of Stanford University, a human has almost 60,000 thoughts each day and 90% of those thoughts are repetitive.

Learn a new skill

It gets boring when you try to learn a new skill. We all have a busy schedule and hope to be successful.

Maybe one day, when we do become successful, we will have enough time.

Then perhaps we will start working on all those things we always wanted to do.

You really want to learn how to play that musical instrument but who has the time to learn it. It will take so much effort and focus.

If things are going well, there is so much money to make that you cannot really waste this opportunity.

If things are bad, it is so important to do everything you can now so that you can make ends meet.

Also, learning a new skill takes 10,000 hours. Can you really learn any challenging new skills ever in your life? Is it just a pipe dream?

Work when you don’t feel like it?

To work when you don’t feel like it is hard. For example, right now I really do not want to write this blog.

That is exactly why I am writing it. I have had this problem for a long time where I just delay a task because I didn’t really want to put in the work at that time.

There have been days where I have just given up on work. I just cannot seem to get myself to work and so I say to myself-

“Let it be. We will just bounce back tomorrow.”

Now, I am pretty good and bouncing back, and, I am able to do cover-up for that work in time. However, that still leaves a basic question.

It might sound very simple but the truth is most people are not proactive.

Proactivity isn’t just about taking initiative, to be proactive is to take responsibility for our own lives and not many people want to do that.
